RE: How Many nights or weekends............

Price of fuel has slowed us down a bit. Only 3470 miles and 91 nights so far.

RE: Fire Restrictions In New Mexico

This is from one of O P's links and it may help. It is not quite as bad as it looked at first. The no hiking part is bad.
THE ENTIRE LINCOLN NATIONAL FOREST CLOSED MAY 1st. Only the Silver, Saddle, Apache, Sleepy Grass, Deerhead, and Pines concessionaire-managed campgrounds in the Sacramento Ranger District and the Aspen Group, Black Bear Group, Slide Group and Fir Group sites, along with the Sunspot Astronomy and Visitor’s Center, Sunspot, NM, will remain open. Campers who use these campgrounds can NOT access Lincoln Forest lands from them for hiking, biking and other recreation purposes and may only use petroleum-fueled stoves for cooking, along with gas lanterns or heating devices.

RE: Streets 2009, No CampGrounds ??

I don't have 2008 but you might try to click on view then show & hide places and check campgrounds. That worked on 2007 for me.
There will be a little blue dot for a lot of campgrounds.

RE: Propane gas leak detector have a lifespan?

Ours started doing just like yours when it was a little less than two years old. I talked to someone with the company that made it and he said about two or three years was the life of most of them. He gave me a return number and I sent it in and got a new one in a few days. So far so good.

RE: Firewood at Canadian Border

When we went into New Brunswick at Calais (two years ago) they took our firewood and potatoes. Our friends went through the line next to us and didn't loose anything. So your mileage may vary.

RE: Trip'n that little 15 amp fuse

Try moving the heater to a plug that is still working after the 15 amp plug has tripped.
Our heater and coffee maker uses about 15 to 20 amps so we make sure they are on different breakers.

RE: Texas-Big Bend Area

The Stillwell Ranch Campground is about 45 miles South of Marathon and it is near the entrance of BBNP. They have full hookups and were real nice last time we were there.
It is a large park so that would mean a lot of driving to see most of the park.

RE: bottle jacks

Our trailer weights a lot more than your trailer and we just use the jack that came with the Dodge. It has worked good more times than we wanted to use it.

RE: Need a Jack Handle for Stabilizer Jacks Holiday Rambler

If the nut is square you will need an eight point socket. They make them, they are not as common as six or twelve point.

RE: Need a Jack Handle for Stabilizer Jacks Holiday Rambler

I guess you could go to Harbor Freight or some auto store and buy an adaptor for a drill and use a 3/4" socked like we do.

RE: Want a recommended superior 12 volt impact wrench.

I am not sure if this one is superior but it is a 12v. from Harbor Freight. (not cordless) On sale for less than $20.00 five or six years ago. It comes with sockets in a nice case.
I thought it would be junk but it has done four tire changes and seems to be good for many more.

RE: state parks full hook ups ?

Many? I have found exactly ONE.. (Bastrop state park) Not many around DFW,, and I have stayed in most of them.
We have camped in a few not too far from DFW. Try Cleburne S P, Eisenhower SP, Caddo Lake SP, Rusk/Palestine SP, Tyler SP. We have camped in these and Lake Whitney has full hook ups but we have not camped there.
They are out there, just go have fun.

RE: Leveling Boards

We use to use 2X10's but they were always breaking.
We have used 3/4" plywood screwed together to make our leveling boards for about a year now without any breaking.

RE: Which Bottle Jack?

We use the cell phone and road service most of the time. Last week with no cell phone service we used the jack that came in the Dodge. It worked great.
